How to Get Apps That Are Not in the Google Play Store

Android’s openness has always been one of its biggest advantages over Apple’s iOS. Android is more open and flexible, and it can be used for a variety of devices from smartphones to payment terminals.

The ability to install applications from sources other than Google’s Play Store is a feature that casual users find very useful. Apple was implicated in the most recent anti-monopoly suit, which is why Google never faced this problem.

Installing apps outside of the App Store on an iPhone is a very time-consuming and difficult process. However, this is not the case with Android phones. You can also choose to install the apps yourself, or use third-party apps stores, which work like Google Play Store and offer their own apps, games and tools.

HOW TO INSTALL APPS ON ANDROID DEVICES THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE

Install an app from a third party website

Using an alternative app store is one of the easiest methods to download apps that are not available in the Google Play Store. If you have a Samsung for instance, you probably already do this on a regular basis. The Samsung Store is a good example.

Playapks.com is one of many third-party apps Website available. It’s not affiliated with any device manufacturer, like Amazon or Samsung, but it is one of the more popular ones.

This is not an endorsement of this app store. It doesn’t offer the same level protection as Google Play Store, but it is a popular option with thousands of available apps. Some of these aren’t readily available using Google’s solution.

HERE’S HOW TO INSTALL AN APP FROM A THIRD PARTY SITE AND INSTALL THE APPS THAT USE IT

  • Download the APK from the app’s website (in this case, PLAYAPKS.COM). This is best done on your phone so that you don’t have the hassle of transferring files from your PC to the smartphone.
  • Find the PLAYAPKS file in the Files application on your phone. It should be located in your Downloads folder if you downloaded it.
  • Install the APK by tapping on the APK.
  • You will be asked to install the application in a pop-up. Click on Install to proceed.
  • Google Play Protect may interrupt your installation. If this happens and you are sure that the app is safe (and understand the risks associated with installing apps from unknown source), tap More Details to expand the window, then tap Install anyway.
  • After a few seconds, the app should start installing. You will then receive a message telling you the installation has been completed.

INSTALLING APPS YOURSELF

You can find.apk file online and install it yourself if you do not want to depend on any app store, whether Google’s, or another developer’s.

It used to be very simple, because all Android apps were compiled into.apk file, which could easily be run and installed. Today, many newer apps use Android App Bundles which require installer software to install.

The process is still very simple and takes only a few moments to complete.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD APPS OUTSIDE THE PLAY STORE?

Installing apps outside of the Google Play Store has many benefits.

You might not be able to access that app store. Amazon’s Fire devices, for example, do not include Google services as standard. You’ll have to find another way to access software not found on the Amazon Store.

Second, you can obtain different versions or builds of an app. You may not want to wait until a bug is fixed if a new version removes an important feature or breaks your app. Installing an older version via an.apk can be done instantly.

You might also want to install other apps not found on the Play Store. Installing apps directly from their developers is the best way to run them, whether they are beta builds, apps which do not comply with the Play Store terms and conditions, or indie apps.
